Pentax 40mm

Oh i'm so excited, my DA40mm just arrived today scored it off ebay for $377.

Ok I admit right now i'm drunk after a night out, but just did some quick testing of this lense and I am AMAZED how sharp it is!

So thrilled with it so far, people say how good the pentax primes are now I understand

Initially I thought I liked my 16-45mm which is a good all rounder, but this is just such a great lense, its just so small lol

Only thing I dont like is the lense cap (common complaint) otherwise I am really happy with my purchase, considering the price I've paid vs prices i've seen

Congrats on the new lens--it's a great one. Regarding the screw-on cap, just pick up a plastic 30mm snap-on lens cap off ebay or from a camera store (really cheap), and it fits the DA 40 hood perfectly. This way you get to leave the hood on all the time, with the easy on-off of the snap-on cap.

I bought one (well two) of these:
New 2 x 30mm Snap-on Lens Cap Set on eBay.ca (item 140214735572 end time 03-Aug-09 00:21:22 EDT)

Fits perfectly, really easy to take out and put back in (unlike a normal pinch cap, it only has one button to pinch in). Just as easy to lose maybe, but that's why you get two

Yup, those are the type I got off ebay as well (also 2). Perfect for the DA 40.

I got if from my local Craigslist for $100 (no hood); the hood cost me $36 from Amazon.com.

I use the cap from a Fujifilm film canister:
