FA 50/1.4 is a very good lense for the price, I used to own one and shot great pictures with it. Yet it is definitely too long for indoor shots in my small-ish appartment. I now happen to stick to my FA 31/1.8 or FA 43/1.9 (perfect for headshots). I am not good with flash (I need to experiment and learn more), so I tend to live with 1/60s to 1/30s speeds at ISO 1600.
Nothing beats late afternoon sunlight anyway...

Another choice would be a Sigma EX 30mm f1.4

I've said it before and I'll say it again: FA35/2.

I was just in your neck of the woods Mechan1k.

Man...you Aussies sure don't like Fords!

Your pix turned out good. I don't have anything against using flash. In some circumstances nothing else will work. But so far I haven't had any real success with my on-camera flash so I'm hoping that this new one will work out better. I'll have to play around with it to see what it will do.

I picked up the Vivitar 383. It's not a Pentax but I hope it works. I would have liked the Pentax 540 but this Vivitar was a lot less money. After spending so much on the lenses I decided to pull back a little on the flash. I guess I should also pick up a diffuser to go along with it since I've heard that this will help reduce the harsh lighting effects of the flash. Guess I'll have to start another thread to find out what diffusers people like and how they use them.

One of the great things about this hobby, always something new to learn!

This is actually a repost of a response that I gave in a similar thread, but since I too shoot with the K200D, I thought that it would be valid to repost it hear...

I am by no means an authority on this topic, but I am a big fan of the FA50 1.4, and the Sigma 30mm 1.4.
Here are samples from both. These were all shot indoors without a flash.

Great pictures. Well, it looks like I will have to start saving and shopping for a 30mm f2 or a 31mm f1.8 to provide a little wider angle to my current stable of lenses. For now I'll wait until my DA* 55mm shows up and see what it can do for me.

Thank you all for your really terrific suggestions and ideas. I'll post my results when I get something to show.

Pioneer ... where was that photo taken of the crushed Festiva ... that's pretty cool indeed.
There's a decent Ford/Holden (GM) rivalry down here
