That bidding on that pair was less than $50 till the final seconds. My guess is that the winning bidder was trying to ensure his success by placing a bid much higher than he planned on paying, not expecting another bidder to do the same. He took a calculated risk & lost. That's the gamble you have to take on Ebay sometimes when you want an item badly enough..... sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I've been on both sides of that equation myself.

In 60 minutes I'd have both those lenses clean and ready to rock and roll. I have a number of lenses I bought cheap because of fungus. Many I've been using for a decade with no return of the stuff.

Yeah, but how do you clean the fungus when it etches the glass or the coatings or the cement? You don't, at least not completely. That 24mm piece is never going to be right IMO.

Pentax coatings are pretty darn resistant. That 24 doesn't look that bad. I've cleaned much worse and didn't have coating etching. If it is a dry, feathery fungus, it usually cleans up nice. And that is what that looks to be.
