I have a 85mm 1.9 Takumar, and the lens is one of the sharpest I have ever used. I was contemplating selling it, and using funds to get the 77mm 1.8 Limited, but now I see the price of that lens at Amazon for over $1000! I am shocked at how much the prices have gone up.

I would love an autofocus lens in the 85mm range ( or 77 ) but I am curious how does the 77mm compare to my current tak?

Any suggestions? I don't even know what I would get out of my Tak, but don't know if I want to lose any speed by going with the cheaper 70mm limited.

The FA 77mm f1.8 is only $730 at B&H with free shipping.

I don't know how it compares to the Takumar 85mm f1.9. Mine is just a Super-Takumar. I think it's got a great character for portraits. The FA77 is probably better technically in all aspects.

Anything 85mm sells for a lot. I've seen the 85/1.9 sell for over $200, and it's not even the more desirable version.
