A milestone passed...

As many of you know, I've been on a lengthy quest to acquire as many of the Pentax K-mount primes as possible. Some of the very rare long teles are probably forever out of my reach, but I passed a milestone today - with the acquisition of the FA*300/2.8 on eBay, I now have all of the K-mount primes from 14mm through 300mm. It's been a long haul (over three years since I began) but I now own 111 of the 121 (not including cosmetic variations) K-mount primes listed on Boz's site. I hope eventually to get the three remaining lenses I need to have everything through 500mm.

Not everyone understands collecting and the passion that it generates, but I'm a happy guy this evening! Pictures will follow when the new lens arrives...

Pretty amazing Jim. Looking forward to a couple of images when you take it for a test drive.

Congratulations.

Quite an accomplishment Jim. Good luck in finding the remaining ones.

Oh, I fully understand:-). What you are doing is very cool, I could try to do the same thing if I had the means, my collection with be much more modest but fun still the same. There's a hock shop here that has an old Ricoh body with a f/1.4 Rikonon (sp) [the spell checker doesn't know either:-)] ) 50mm prime with a $49.95 price tag on the whole shebang. I bet I can get that price down, maybe. I've read about removing the pin so the lens doesn't get stuck on the camera.
Enjoy your collection and congrats!!!

Hey, that's cool! Congratulations on your collection and I'm hoping I could also build a nice collection of K-mount lenses in the future.

Hate to throw a damp rag on this love fest, but unless you go out and shoot with 'em, what good are they doing you? It's wonderful to be able to collect them, and I hope you get the 10 you're missing, but if they sit around collecting dust instead of being used, it's kinda disappointing to those of us who WOULD use 'em!
Having said that, I hope to start seeing a return on your investment by way of a whole series of stunning photos from each and every one, as well as an evaluation for those of us who need help finding and buying the ones we'll use. Just my 2 cents!

LOL! Yes, there's always the M42 lenses, although I have a pretty fair collection of the SMC-Taks already. Or perhaps the rest of the K-mount zooms...

I need to give my LBA a rest, though!

First - congrats - be happy, and yes take some pictures with them.

Second - which are the 10 that you don't have?

Thanks! I hope to give many of them some exercise this summer.

I currently don't have the K and M 400/5.6, the K500/4.5, the F* and FA* 600/4, the K 1000/8 and K 1000/11, the A*1200/8, and the K and M 2000/13.5. I will probably be able to find the first three of these without too much work. Of the rest, the only ones I'd really like to have are the FA*600/4 and the A*1200/8, but it's very unlikely I'll ever find them at a price I can afford. Maybe that's for the best - it's always best to have a goal just beyond your reach...

Congratulations, Jim! A remarkable achievement. It was an honor to make my small contribution to this project. I would love to see some photos of the collection.

There was a 2000 f13.5 listed on eBay a couple of times about a year ago. I don't recall whether it was labeled as M or just SMC. I don't think I could afford the shipping alone! I would like an auto-focus 600mm f4 but I lack the physical and financial strength to support such an undertaking.
