Pentax 18-250 Dust

Within a week of purchasing this lens, the interior elements were coated with dust. It's gotten to the point now that it is affecting image quality (dark areas in backlit areas have become foggy).

Should I attempt to send the lens back to get it cleaned? If so, how long does that usually take, will it be covered under the warranty, and what is all needed if I send it to Pentax other than proof of purchase?

Thanks.
