Bag for sigma 100-300mm?

For those of you who lug around Sigma's 100-300mm F4. What bag do you use for your gear?

Currently I have a Slingshot 200AW which is great but isn't big enough to hold into this lens.
I have a lowepro lens case for the lens on its own, but when going on trips it would be more convenient to have a bag that would fit my gear + the sigma all together.

How do you manage this fairly hefty lens?

Sigma 100-300

While it will fit in the slingshot 200AW (horizontally across the whole bottom) it is a tight fit. So, I searched around for other options.

Here is what I ended up with:

Domke F-5XC

K20D with a Sigma 17-70 mounted, a Sigma 10-20 stuck into the half the bottom with the rocket blower behind it, and a Sigma 100-300 standing upright on the other half from bottom to top. The wired remote, extra battery, flash media case are stuffed into the little pockets (I wish they had a flap on them).

The lower flap is 3 inches tall and 9 inches wide at the bottom. The sides taper inwards so the width is 8 inches at the turn to horizontal on the zipper.

I don't have this lens, but i do have the tamron 70-200mm f2.8. It will fit easily into the think tank 30 holster bag with body, lens and lens hood attached. I can quickly remove the camera, pull off the lens cap and be ready to shoot. with the hood on the lens, it is longer than the sigma 100-400mm. so, the 100-400 should fit also. I put the 40mm pancake into the side pocket and use this as a walk around/hiking setup.

I use a flipside 300 which can fit a sigma 100-300 f/4 mounted on the camera with the grip attached quite comfortably. I also take the FA31 LTD, FA77 LTD and the Pentax K50mm f/1.2 and a AF540FGZ flash on top, And that is my small scale camera kit.

Canon EG200

If you are really cheap, the Canon EG 200 seems to fit the 100-300mm nicely. This is only my impression though. It seems to fit the 20 cm Nikon 70-200mm VR with some space at the end. From what I understand the Sigma is only 2 cm longer so it probably will fit nicely.

Just to save you some time here is the picture I based my guess off.

I think it is the 5th picture or so. The very last picture of the series also is a Cano 70-200mm f/2.8 ( i think... looks too huge for f/4). Also has plenty of space for another prime lens like a 50mm or TC.

Lowepro Classified 160 fits it nicely mounted on the camera (with hood reversed.)

My personal favorite street bag.

That's a useful looking bag with the tripod mount etc. Does it work like advertised?...can you rotate around and access the camera easily?, can you do this with the tripod mounted?

Thanks.

I have a Lowepro Fastpack 350 which just about holds the lens mounted on to my GX20.

It will also take a couple of other lenses, 17" laptop with extra room for other stuff. It's also comfy to carry.

It is quite big though and I would like a smaller bag that would take just the camera with lens mounted, but without all the other storage space.

edit - the Fastpack 350 doesn't have any tripod holder on it

with my tripod the holder on the flipside 300 bag is basically useless. I would only use that to hold a monopod. The smallest tripod I use is a manfrotto 055XPROB - with a geared or a ball head.

but I find the flipside 300 is roomy enough to hold the gear I regularly use, and it is a secure bag which is one of my principal concerns. and the lowepro tag on the bag is easy to remove so it doesn't scream out EXPENSIVE CAMERA BAG STEAL ME.
