Pentax DA Limited series...may be WR in future?

Dear pentaxians...
I noticed that the Pentax has released simple DA lenses weather resistant (18-55 WR, 50-200 WR).
Now, i would to know if anyone know if Pentax has plans to produce the DA Limited series in WR format.

I probably think not. I think the 18-55 and the 50-200 will remain the only two WR for quite awhile. I'm starting to think that for future pentax camera releases, the kit lens will be the WR versions instead of the regular DA's. Well besides the K-m/K2000, if they continue to make all WR bodies that is.

I doubt that... the Limiteds cater to a different market segment - adding weather proofing might add to the weight & bulk of those DA pancakes... besides you have the DA* already if you want to go weatherproof.

I think so, but might be completely wrong.
I believe Pentax is in the process of making the whole DSLR line-up and its lenses weatherproof......

Forget about the DA Ltd's - I want a weatherproof 10-17! Also, seems more logical for them to update some of their most unique and most interesting zooms as that's ultimately where the bulk of the sales lie.

Any news on a DA* 11-16? Or possibly a DA* 12-24 based on the Tokina 12-24 II?

I'll second a 17-70mm

I'd be happy, really happy, to pay about USD $1,000 for a WR 17-70 2.8-4.0 (or so).

It would be the Pentax WR equivalent of my Sigma 17-70, useful indoors and out, modest to bright light. The add'l 20mm on a APS-C camera would make a difference, as would the additional stop.

I'd be able to sell on at least two existing lenses to help make it affordable.

And I'm not holding my breath.

I think you're talking about the Pentax 17-70, not the 10-17?

I do think there's a few lenses in the lineup that really should be updated for WR but the 10-17/3.5-4.5 and the 17-70/4 are the most obvious candidates as there aren't any real substitutes among the DA* lenses there. A weatherproofed WA zoom of some sort has to be there, that's for sure!

Thanks, my mind and fingers were elsewhere at that moment.

Yes - although I'd prefer a rectilinear (if I got that right) WA, something like a 10-20mm Sigma. I like my 10-17 fisheye but probably would prefer to avoid that effect in inclement landscapes - I'd like a more representational view. I think. I really haven't shot enough to be certain of my preferences, to be honest.
