I think the FA 31 might help... but the darn thing is crippled with AF...

Look forward to hearing about your FA 31 love affair... The Nokton is a beautiful lens and a Joy to have on the camera. If this was someones first MF lens, it would be tough to ever buy another and be satisfied. This one just feels and looks like a work of art.

Oren I did not even realize you were selling the Nok

I want to see more...

I actually had Gary's lens on my camera for at least an hour and a half during the SF walk, it just couldn't seem to come off my camera! Seriously though, it's an amazing lens. The focus ring is so nicely dampened and it was great for taking urban portraiture. Here's two shots I took with the same lens during that day. Albeit, these are B&W and probably not the best way to judge how great this lens is but nonetheless, here they are.

Matt, Loved your candids from last week... I know you had some more that were really good. I hope you post a series from the SF meet up.

But I just read you picked up a K7 so I imagine your time is being used up in other directions Beautiful shots in that thread by the way...

Thanks to all who stopped in to comment... this is a really nice lens that is a joy to have on the camera. If anyone is thinking of a MF 50 ish F1.4 lens.. you will like this one. Thanks Gary for letting me have a spin with it...

One really fun thing about these SF Bay area meet ups is that we get a chance to not only meet other folks and see how the shoot, but we also get to try other lenses. I also got a chance to shoot Matt's FA77 and it was a great lens too.

Thanks for the writeup Gus. I just bought (I should have it this week) a Helios 58mm to see how I like that focal length. If I love it, then the Nokton will be purchased. I just can't make myself love the FA50/1.4. I find it too short for portraits and too long for street or landscapes.

Agreed; local meet ups are a great way to get to know people and get the opportunity to ogle the other folks' prized possessions! ;-)
