Vivitar Series 1 VMC 2.5 / 105mm Macro PK-A

I purchased at an auction following Pentax lens:
"Vivitar Series 1 105mm f2.5 Macro".
It is a lovely MF macro lens.
Finest optical and mechanical quality.
I have the Pentax SMC DA 35/2.8 Limited also.
But the pictures with this lens are
simply different from the perspective. (more like 3D).
Pentax K200D and the "Vivitar Series 1 105mm f2.5 Macro"
Shots freehand without a tripod, JPG out of Cam.
Here some samples:

Regards,
Hartmut from Berlin/Germany

Lovely shots. The Vivitar 105 macro is a superb lens. I have had one 17 years and it has given excellent results. I use it less now that I have a Sigma 180 macro which is also superb and has the benefit of an increased subject distance when shooting insects. But for flower shots, etc. the Vivitar takes some beating.

I am hopefully getting hold of one of these lenses shortly, and can't wait. Any more great shots you could post to tide me over?

BTW is it full manual, or are there contacts to control the aperture?

#4 is stunning. Great shots! I lost an ebay auction for this once (it was as-is and not enough description, then AFTER the auction the seller answered my questions and confirmed that it's working fine, DUH!). I still regretted it

The Viv S1 105mm Macro is an A lens, meaning yes it does allow aperture control in the camera, making it all the more functional and valuable. I was very lucky to win one on ebay a few months ago for under $200. It was being sold clearly by a non-camera guy, but I took a chance and it arrived in mint condition. It is an amazing lens for sure.

Thank you for that bit on info - like you say, it will make the lens all that more versatile - just thinking about wireless flash, which by the sound of it, should work all o.k.
