How do you feel about this lens?

Do you have any sample images?

I LOVE this lens. My copy is breathtakingly sharp and it has the contrast of a limited lens. I find it to be just ok mechanically though. The decoupled focus ring is a real plus, but the extending barrel feels incredibly filmsy. Thankfully it extends inside the hood, so this isn't an issue for me.

Here are some shots with the lens:

Wow, you aren't kidding. The third one with the leaf is sooooo sharp.

I can't wait to get it. I grabbed one off eBay.

After viewing your pictures, I picked up all my camera stuff and threw it in the trash.

Really nice pics, and as stated, the green leaf one is really cool.

Wow thanks, vmax84!

I really do think that this lens is far too often overlooked.

I wish my macro was 2.8. I have found since getting my macro-takumar (preset) 50mm, that in just about every situation it is just superb. of course I cant do low light work, but during the day as a carry around lens its just brilliant. I can go from doing a portrait to doing a macro at 1:1 without changing lenses or having a big huge lens to carry around. for anyone who wants photos as sharp as possible, and really like using a 'normal' focal length lens, a 50mm macro is the best way to go as an everyday lens. and the DFA is a superb choice. well worth the price in my opinion, and for anyone using primarily AF lenses it makes an excellent companion to the FA 50.

A very sharp lens, optically good with limited PF and CA. Perhaps too sharp for portrait, you won't get the soft micro-contrast of lets say a Voiglander lenses, so it's a different feel altogether. Mechanically,...it works,... but certainly not impressive, but I didn't care as I got it new for $200. The focus ring feels like it's lacking lubricant, it's the best I can describe it.
