Just got another lens for this club, SMC Takumar 55mm f/1.8. Will be fun to compare the Auto 2.2 vs Super 1.8 vs SMC 1.8 vs Super50 1.4 vs Fuji 55mm

I will be interested in what you find out about the Fuji. I gave one of these to my brother; he has a Fujica ST605 with the original 55mm f2.2 lens. I read somewhere that the Fuji 55/2.2 lens was not that good, so I gave him the f1.8 instead. I bet I could get it back if it's really good.

Thanks Steve and Rense! I'd like to have some awesome wide open pics with that lens, but my two year old never stays in the depth of field for more than a nanosecond. I need a less mobile subject....

I feel your pain. This weekend I was trying to take my nearly-2 year old's portrait for a Christmas card with a 50/1.4 indoors and he just wouldn't stay still long enough for me to focus, let alone keep his eyes in the DOF. We'll see if my tribulations convince my wife to spring for an AF normal prime...

Excellent shot, though.

Here are some from my 50mm Pentax-M f2.. not as sharp as other 50's but i still love it... for $12.00 AUD it's a bargin for a lil' gem like this.

F9 ISO 100 1/800 sec K200D PP: in LR2

F4 (i think) ISO 400 1/160 sec K200D PP: in LR2

Nice and wide (F2) ISO 400 1/200 sec K200D (kind of lost some sharpness with Pbucket...thoese heathens) PP: in LR2

Corner to corner it's still quite sharp F8-11 (i think) ISO: 100 1/320 sec K200D PP: in LR2

I'm happy i found this thread, got me picking up my nifty-fifty again after some absense from my cameras...

I just acquired a copy of this lens attached to an Asahi Pentax K. I didn't even know it could be used with a Pentax Digital camera!

I love the 3D in this image and the color and bokeh are subtle.

Another 50 mm shot, this time with the SMC M 50mm f2 on my K-1000 body. If my notes are right, this was Kodak T-Maxx 400 at f5.6 and shutter 1/250. For such an inexpensive lens, they work pretty good.

I'm in Mankato, MN and we are getting slammed with snow. I came home today to find THIS hanging on my porch! I had to go out and see what I could do with my 50mm M 1.7! ISO 400 @ 1/5, f1.7
