Fixcinater you're welcome!
Vaughn, the b+w looks great. I guess the Helios 44- series must be the best allround lens for the small buck by a long way.

Just counting. I never searched the internet to see whether it makes sense.

I am sure about the full open - no pp- no crop with the same lens here,
I've seen this impressive shot before.

I guess I'm not used to judging f/1.4 DOF at such distances. My thin DOF shots are often from close distances at which the DOF becomes a lot smaller.

I suppose some Volna 9 pics are in order seeing as it's a 50mm f2.8 lens.

Just got 50mm M f.17 and Helios 44-2 f2.0

50mm M f1.7:

Helios 44-2 f2.0:

Bought the Helios online and before I got the adapter, spotted the 50mm M f1.7 and bought that as well. Now not sure when I'd use the Helios really...

You won't be the first one with more than 1 50mm ! I myself have a moderate 8 50mm lenses and 3 more zoom lenses with 50mm in their range.....

The Helios is fun to use, and it is a very good lens. Besides you can use it in Av-mode, which is impossible with the M-series lenses unless you want to shoot wide open constantely. Did I say the Helios is a very good lens already?

Just found out how to leave the adaptor on and treat the Helios as a normal K-Mount - it might get used more now :-)

M 50mm f1.7 on the K-x. EXIF says 135mm because I switched lenses from my Sears 135 without turning the camera off.

I'm wondering if there's a way I can modify this lens to constantly stop down to the aperture set on the lens, thereby allowing stop-down metering in Av mode like I had with my old screwmount.

Silly question but how do you get the aperture info recorded in your EXIF data ? My shots with my M 50mm f1.7 always show up as f/0.0. Am shooting on manual mode with aperture set on f1.7 normally.

Example:
EXIF data link

Noticed the same thing with shots from my Helios in manual mode as well.
