My deal of the century.

I thought I would start a thread where we could all share our best deals on used lenses and camera gear. Perhaps a thread has already been started? If so I am sorry.

Anyway, I will start of by sharing the following deal.

On the weekend at a local garage sale I picked up a Pentax ME super in near mint condition, a AF 160 flash, a Mint ++ SMC M 50mm f1.7 and a Pentax-A 70-210mm f4 also in Mint ++ condition. All for the low, low, low, low,low price of $9 US.

Here they are:

The 50mm 1.7

The 70-210mm

The Flash

That stuff looks like it's literally never been used. A good deal at 10x that amount, congrats!

Is there anything special about that lens? I see a lot of people that want that lens, but its review are so-so, and price is pretty high... (of course, not in this case but the mean price in Reviews section is almost $130)

Pentax best lens in the 70/80 to 200/210 range are:

1) FA*80-200/2.8 (but it costs an arm or a leg)
2) A70-210/4 (constant 4)
3) M/K80-200/4.5
...
10) The rest

What reviews are so-so? $130 is not much for that lens. 9$ is less than it would cost to ship it!

Hm... That ain't a star, is it? But anyway, I get what you mean... The reviews I said - are the ones in our lens database; that's not something to be taken for absolute truth, of course, but they do give an general idea.
$130 not so cheap... Maybe; but for hungry student... nawww, that's a lot
But yeah, 9 bucks is helluva deal, YOU're SO LUCKY!! Sorry for caps... But yeah... You can say you almost earned yourself $200 in resell values But I'm happy too I just bought a Tamron SP 70-210/3.5 (said to be the best 70-210 of the era, and on par, or even better, than Vivitar 70-210 ver.3) and a Minolta X-700 (film-era Minolta top of the line... Never actually heard of it before I saw the picture and checked out google ). It should arrive on Friday... Can't wait, can't wait... The pics you got there are torture!

Nice find for 9 bucks. Specially when I paid about $ 280 for my 70-210 in mid 80`s.

It is a nice , smooth lens with very nice color rendering and good contrast.
Enjoy your new toys.

Cheers. Mike.

Thanks all for the comments.

The focus ring is incredibly smooth. The build quality is great. It is of course heavy though.

I may be listing it for sale soon.

My own lucky find, also at a garage sale, was:

Super program with case
SMC-A 50 f1,4
AF280T flash with case
Filters
TV remote (whatever)

For 10$ CND...

Everything was perfect but dusty. I sold the camera, the lens, and still use the flash.

I agree. Mint stuff. A real treat to hold. The QI stickers on both are untouched. They are incredible to hold and look at. I will enjoy them for a while but likely to up for sale.
