Pentax DA*300

Before my trip to Costa Rica, I reaaallly wanted this lens but having splurged on a 16-50, 50-135, 55-300, k20d, 360 flashes, sd cards, tripod, extra batteries, and polarizing filters I decided I had to wait. I recently sold my beloved 55-300. It was a GREAT lens but spent much of its time in the bag (for some reason I didnt find the zoom too appealing to me... also in the forest F5.8 was just too slow for some birds/monkeys).

As fate would have it, I walked into a store today in Palo Alto (Keeble and Shuchat) for some flash chords/ hot shoes and what sparkling glass was behind the counter???

the DA*300

So after a bit of self convincing/testing I snagged it for clearance at $1000 US. The Image quality is fantastic! Sooo sharp at F4 and even sharper up! love the build/durably feel like the other DA* lenses.

There is a lonely DA*200 there also on "clearance" but you have to make an offer/or ask for a lower price than their retail for the pentax items. There are also several other lenses sitting on the shelf there.... namely a 40mm pancake, 70mm pancake, and some FA lenses.

photos soon!

Now that's what I call a spend. NICE

I thought I was doing OK when I received a box with DA* 16-50, DA*60-250 and DA*300 just before the prices went stupid in UK.

I just love the 300. The harder you push it, the better it seems to get.

I'm sorry to say that, but I really hate you guys. I've been drooling over this lens for a while now, and these great shots you've posted don't make me feel any better...

Those are really impressive. I am not much of a tele guy, but if I were, this set of photos would send me off to the store to get me one.

I totally agree with Peter. Although I just got my 50-135 that I've been wanting since I started reading about it. So I'm good for now. Someday I will have the DA*300 though...someday...
