To get a bit more reach, while dreaming of a 180-200mm macro, I've tried out the SMC Pentax-DFA 100mm f2.8 macro with a Soligor 1.7x converter. The converter has screwdrive connection but no SDM. Have tried it out with severall lenses, for example the DFA100 macro and the DA55-300mm, and autofocus performance is quite good. I have difficulties to see any quality loss due to the converter on macro shots, but it is more noticeable when shooting in the 300mm range. Here is a serie with two howerflies on a sunflower.

I think I can honestly recommend this converter for screwdrive lenses. Optically it is probably not as good as my Pentax-A converter, but the AF works. Lack of SDM connection doesn't matter since SDM doesn't appear to work on converters >1.5x. Being sold as Soligor, the same construction is probably also sold under different names.
