question about a vivitar 135mm

I don't know too much about old lenses.. my friend is giving me an old vivitar 135mm f/2.8 telephoto lens and she said it's made for mamiya/sekor and pentax. I haven't looked at it yet and still don't have it in my possession but she says it works very well. I don't know if it will fit with my pentax k10d.. what do I have to do to make it fit? sorry I'm new with this. and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Sounds like it could be an M42 screwmount

If so you will need a M42 to K mount adaptor - get the original here at this link

PentaxWebstore Mount Adapter B (35mm Screwmount to Bayonet)

This will open up a new world of great M42 lenses for you...

I have the Vivitar 135 screwmount and I like it a lot.

Nice and sharp even wide open... with a nice OOF area look to it.

Here is a link to a recent series by DWB...

welcome to the world of M42. careful not to get lost, as the sea is expansive.

The Vivitar 135/2.8 is a gem and well-worth learning to use. Congratulations!

Indeed it's a fine lens, and I can attest to that too!
Enjoy it.

old 135 mm

I purcahsed a used Vivitar 135 mm lens (K mount ) 30 years ago. I used it on my K1000 for years and now use it on my new K7 DSLR. Here is a picture that I took with the K7 and 135mm, of a Cardinal that was very close to me. It is a great lens for portraits on my old film camera - looking forward to trying it for portraits with my K7. Sorry for the late reply. I just found this site. If anyone has an old Pentax 2X teleconverter that they would like to sell or if you see any for sale please let me know. Thanks

Another thumbs up from me.

Only niggle is it has such a long focus throw it can be a job to focus on action, but it is possible:

(Also used a 2x TC on that one)

And one from yesterday:

Just take a look at shopgoodwill.com

K-mount & M42 teleconverters come up all the time, especially with older cameras. Learn to spot the differences in lens mounts or look for identifying marks (PK, MD, etc) because the people who do the listings know nothing about cameras. Also, try to avoid paying more than about $10 for any manual TC.

I've had a few copies of this lens and found the blades very prone to getting oily.
The one I have now is dry and takes nice pics, though.
