Lens for Portrait

Hi, I've got a Pentax K200D + DA 18-55 mm zoom. I'm happy with the combinations, but since I love portrait photography I'd like to get a dedicated lens. I'm happy with a fixed lens instead of a zoom, as the value for money would be better. Any suggestions ?

You are going to get heaps of suggestions indicating the ltd lenses and others, however I would highly recommend the FA 50 f1.4 first off due to it's excellent IQ, cost, shallow DOF, low light ability, and quality over the more consumer level zooms.

Here's some other suggestions for you to look into - pending your budget (I'll only mention auto focus lenses):

Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 (great focal length on crop sensor for shooting people) ~$300

FA 50 f1.4 (~$200)
FA, or F 50 f1.7 (~$150)
FA 77 f1.8 (awesome bokeh!, expensive $650 used)
FA 35 f2 (good lens for indoor use, $300-400 used)
DA 40 ltd f2.8 (sharp across the frame, very small and discrete $250 ish)
DA 70 ltd f2.4 (similar to the FA77, but not quite as long or quite as fast $450-500 used)
Sigma 70 macro (my favourite lens $300-400 used)

Lots more to choose from. These may or may not fit your bill (depending on your desired length), however they should give you a pretty good start in your search.

Good luck!

Value for money?
Look no further than the FA 50 f/1.4
Otherwise the DA 40 is small but very sharp (just not as fast).
Above options are just as viable, just a little more expensive.

My main suggestion would be to search this forum for previous discussions of this topic, as this gets asked *very* often. For instance, there is this thread:

The recommendations above are all good; you'll find there are also several 70mm, 85mm, 90mm, and 100mm lenses (from Pentax and others) that get recommended often when the subject comes up.
