I noticed this strange shadowing on the 3rd post of the fence. I am wondering if there is an issue with the lens.

The third post is aligned exactly in the middle of two posts of the fence in background.
Most likely interaction of the out of focus contrasty edge in background with the contrasty edge in focus.

Looks fine to me.
OOF areas can appear irregular to what one would expect, but the explanation above suffices.
