I have both the DA 40 Ltd and the FA 43 Ltd. The 43 was the first lens I bought after I got my camera (with the kit lens, but never used it) and I just recently acquired the 40, so I haven't had enough time to test it thoroughly. The 43 has been my favorite lens out of any I've ever used. Here are images from each lens, both shot with my K10D:

DA 40 at f/2.8 (test shot the day the lens arrived)

FA 43 at f/1.9 (test shot just after lens arrived)

While I love the 43, I find myself often having to back up because of the digital crop factor. I also love the f/1.9, but have taken some incredible portraits at 2.4-2.8 with it too.

I've enjoyed the 40 so far, but I haven't had much time with it yet. I do have a shoot this Friday and I plan on using it quite a bit then.

Sure, but you're gonna have to allow me some time to do it. I've taken less than 15 photos with the 40 as it's so new to me, but I'll see if I can do a direct comparison tonight (or tomorrow) with the same subject.

Just for the record...I like Pepsi much better than Coke too.

Here's my indoor comparison of the 40 and 43. Shots were taken with a K10D, handheld and with the on-camera flash.

DA 40, f/2.8 (wide open), 1/60s

FA 43, f/2.8, 1/60s

FA 43, f/1.9 (wide open), 1/60s

Outdoor comparison coming soon.

Here's the outdoor comparison of the 40 and 43. Shots were taken with a K10D on a tripod, Aperture Priority, +.5 Exposure Compensation. These have been resized in PS, but other than that they're straight from the camera.

DA 40, f/2.8 (wide open), 1/350s

FA 43, f/2.8, 1/250s

DA 40, f/8, 1/45s

FA 43, f/8, 1/30s

FA 43, f/1.9 (wide open), 1/500s

You're welcome. It's interesting to see the color differences and slightly different shutter speeds as the light travels different distances and through different glass to the sensor.

Wow, excellent comparison... yeah, one can see the difference between both lenses.

I can tell you I own the FA43 and I simply love it, once you get used to it you cant stop shooting with it.

I guess If I had the DA40 my feelings would be the same... I mean you wont regret with any of them.

I think it is pretty hard to see any difference in a 400px photo. You don't happen to have any bigger versions?
