Flowers for Gus (Pentacon 50mmF1.8)

I have two different copies of this lens, a black one, and a zebra one. There was some belief here that the Pentacon 50/1.8 and the Meyer Optik 50/1.8 are the same lens, and since Gus preferred this last lens over his much beloved Helios-44M, I thought I'd give him this bunch of flowers, made with the Black Pentacon wide open. Have fun with it!

Very nice Rense. #5 is my favorite, with #1 a close second.

I am blushing... Flowers for little old me...

Wow, those are so the 'Meyer/Pentagon' look. Very sharp even wide open...

I find it does really well in the shadows/lower light.

Love #1 and 2... Shows off the Pent real well.

And the spooky oof area on 4 is callin' me to put the pent 50 on the camera...

What are your thoughts on where it ranks in the 50/55 bucket?
And any optical difference between your zebra and black version?

Josh, thanks for your kind words!

Gus, I agree with you it is an underated lens. It has been on the shelf without being used realy. Shame on me. But I think I like the Helios-44M better. This one comes close, but is second. My third love is the Helios 44-4. From there come the other 50's I have (5 or 6 more). I like the feel of the Helios over the feel of the Pentacon. But it's close, very close.

I think I will use this lens this week more, and will see what it is capable of....

The Pentacon does flowers quite well, but in my opinion it should be stopped down. I prefer the second of these two:

Excelent pics!!!

The pentacon is a great lens. In the cold side, I like the colors and sharpness. I used it very much. Today I use the S-M-C 1,4/50 Tak. But the pentacon still with my.

Hasn't done badly at all wide open, Rense.
These are fine results.
Thanks for sharing them.
