Kiron lens info wanted

I have an inherited Kiron 24mm f/2 lens in pentax K fit. The aperture mecanism is in need of repair, otherwise it is in perfect condition. I am lucky enough to use a number of superb pentax primes on my K100D, and am considering having the Kiron repaired but can find very little info regarding it's performance. Can anyone help?

re: Kiron lens info

Many thanks for link to Kiron image samples. It seems this is a lens worthy of repair.

Glenn,
common wisdom tells me that my M42 Vivitar 24/2 is the same lens as yours. I could be
wrong and yours could be better coated but here goes:

M42 Vivitar 24/2 Ser.22xxx on K100D, no postprocess except cropping

This lens is best usable from say f/5.6. It does give nice results but not as easy as the
28/2 Kiron which is really good already at f/2. BTW my 24/2 also has aperture problems
but it's still usable. More pics from my lens here.

Good luck with the tinkering,
Georg

I have this lens (no aperture issues for me). Mine is a P/KA mount with 55mm filter thread.

It's not the sharpest wide open, but it improves quickly as you close down. I wrote an article including some pictures with this lens here. They're a bit too small, but better than nothing!

Consider joining the Kiron Klub email group at Yahoo! Groups. The group there is very knowledgeable on all kinds of Kirons. They also have the repair manuals for your lens (I think).

Here's a link to the Kiron Klub at yahoo Groups

Here's a link to a resource reviewed in the Camera Repair and Service external links forum. I believe Ralph specializes in Kiron - he has been very helpful to me with a damaged Kiron-made Macro lens
