Some great advice and images on here, have read and made notes so thanks guys. Only done one concert and settled for the 70-200 2.8 for most shots, with a few using the 18-50 2.8. A faster lens may have helped but luckily it wasn't pitch black and the lighting wasn't too shoddy. Should be covering the band again indoors soon so we'll see how it goes...

And I may have got a bit involved during the last song

Which 70-200mm f/2.8 have you settled on. These are lovely concert shots and I feel right in the presence of the concert. Excellent shots if you ask me!

I can't say for sure Lowell as I've never held that particular lens.

In my case the K 200/2.5 is the one I reach for as it is the fastest telephoto I own. I don't do a lot of concerts but for school gyms etc. it seems to be more than adequate for my purposes. Now is it the best lens for concerts? Maybe not but it is the best one I have.

I too have shot concerts with a manual lens, I think it helps refine your skills in patience and timing. I've used a manual from 35mm ~ 135mm as well as the DA* 50-135.

Hin, if that was directed at me then a) thank you! and b) I went for the Tamron 70-200, a bit hefty for everyday use but a great performer in any situation I've thrown at it.
