fixed 10mm

does pentax make a DMC SA10mm fixed lens? have they ever made a fixed 10mm? what about tamron, sigma etc??
love wide angle for just about everything. they truly do make the most dramatic landscape HDR photos.

Nope

If you want to get to 10mm your only choice is the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 or if your patient the 10-20mm f/3.5.

Or if you want to save money at the expense of quality the Tamron 10-24mm.

I was just about to start a thread on this very topic. I use the Sigma 10-20 for landscapes almost exclusively and more often than not at 10mm. Although this lens is fantastic I was wondering if their was a 10mm prime or what about somethin close? I am only interested in pro quality lenses, no wider than the 10mm on my Sigma.

AFAIK there are no 10mm primes for Pentax. Conceivably a good idea for Pentax to take up as a rectilinear ultra-wide prime...

Nothing bad about the Sigma 10-20, but the DA 10-17 is fish eye, whereas the 10-20 is a rectilinear zoom.

What about the Pentax DA 14mm? Sounds like a great lens from the reviews on here. Would it be any better than the Sigma? Of course the problem with getting a prime is that I might not ever use the 10-20 which would be a waste. The 14mm would have to pretty darn good to justify that!

It aint bad - I had it for a while but replaced it with the 12-24. I end up using the 12mm end more anyway. But the 14 performs quite well, and it's f/2.8 with VERY close focusing ability, in case that's important to you...
