The four thousand dollar Tak

Anyone interested in some IR photography? Just $4143 and you could own this lens. Pentax M42 4,5/85mm Ultra-Achromat-Takumar

Dang, and I thought an 85/1.9 was expensive. Silly me.

rot = red in German.
Seller = German.
Price = WTF?

Edit: Maybe the price isn't that far out. A modern equivalent costs $4500... http://diglloyd.com/diglloyd/free/CoastalOptics60f4/index.html

Think on the Continent it is very common to use commas in place of decimal points .

Hallo johan-ingles,

many thanks for your e-mail.
The decimal point is sitting on the
right place. The lens is made for
infrared photography and very very
rare in the market. That makes the
price.

Sincerely

Karlheinz Koch
Some of you collectors might get a buzz out of this pentax prototype he's selling too

Either that, or he is listing them in pesos.

I'm definitely interested in it, but $40 just for shipping?! That's just absurd.

Actually whenever I see something that is terribly overpriced (IMHO), I look to see if it's this particular seller. The thing is, he's apparently finding buyers or he most likely wouldn't still be selling on e-bay after the year or more that I've seen him on there.

Photo-Arsenal Collector Store

Actually, if you adjust for the exchange rate into DM, prices for these collectible camera items are no more outrageous than at THIS American Seller.

fwiw, they're very pleasant and courteous. He also mentions that they have 100s of other items they don't list and if you're after something hard to find, to mail them.
