weather-resistant lenses

Is there a cheaper alternative to the pentax weather-resistant lenses?

There seems to be no used copies around yet and new ones don't seem to list on ebay except for near (and well above) what they cost from pentax.

Welcome here Aka.
Quick answer is no.
You want WR, it doesn't come cheap - developing such lenses does take a lot more thought and build quality than for other standard lenses.
Check this forum's website, there have been a number of DA* 16-50s, DA* 50-135s and DA* 200s to tickle anyone's fancy for WR lenses!

basicaly Ash is right.
The only ccheaper WRs are the new kit zooms 18-55 and 50-200 WR.
But other than that, it's only * lenses and those don't come cheap.

Heh, DA* seems to go contrary to my cheap-@ss sensibilities.

There was a thread on here that mentioned sigma developing something.

Anyway, I guess all the k10d, k200d, k20d bodies out there will continue to soak up any WR lenses that come to market.

OK, a semi-related question:
How the heck do the WR/ DA* lenses seal at the body?

Also, zip-lock bags are amateur:

I just don't like the way my lens feels when I protect it like this...

Way to go - I can see lots of heads turning with that accessory.

Sealing? Well, it's not sealing the way you're probably thinking of it.
I wouldn't say it's waterproof, so probably not a good enough seal to be able to dunk the cam+WR lens into water, but it does resists dust, water, sand etc. from blowing into the camera and lens under normal above-water operation of the combination...

Can I use my small size ones on my DA 50-135, or will they be loose?
