Getting to like the "macro" of DA-35

I've not been much of a close-up guy. This isn't the excellent kind of true macro I've seen here, but the new DA-35 really works for this kind of shot 8-12" out and opens up a new way of seeing for me. A sample

Nice shot. This is my usual type of macro shot also, not the uber-macro type stuff that lots of forum members can do.

I took the DA 35 with my K200D to a pumpkin patch/apple picking farm with my wife and kids today. What it offers is the ability to plop one fairly small and light lens on your camera, shoot at a useful focal length, and be able to get beautiful shots of your family, or the farm, or that small apple sitting on the ground, or the pumpkin stem, or the pumpkin itself, or that flower on the ground, or that ear of corn sitting on a table. Well, you get the picture. It is an incredibly versatile lens, and one I am very glad to have in my kit.

Yeah, that's nice! See--that's what's tempting me to get that lens--even though I have the FA 31mm ltd.

Arrgh! I bought my DA 40mm right before I heard about this lens, and I have wanted it ever since, but couldn't justify the overlap. I have a CZJ 35mm f/2.4 that does about 1:2 macro, but I miss the AF and other auto-functions. Brian, that is a lovely shot.

I have the DA 35 and the Da 40 and use them both frequently. I tend to shoot very different things when I have one or the other on the camera. I can't tell you which one is my favorite -- I guess whichever one I am shooting with at the moment. What I find amazing is the magnification the DA 35 gives to tiny flowers that you otherwise would hardly notice.

I think it was J Sherman that sold me on the lens and I have never regretted that purchase, even though I was split pretty hard between it and the FA 35 at the time.

jeffrey, please post some of those shots. We don't have "pumpkin weather" out here so much, so I'd love to see the fall colors,

Thank you, Nick. Honestly, I don't know if it's the DA lens, or the K20, or the combination of the two, but whatever it is, I'm having a ball with it,
Brian

Ok--here's a few. Hopefully these give you a sense of the season out here in the Northeast. All JPEG, no real post-processing.

Just booked flights and tickets to see an off broadway production of a Choras Line in Vancouver, BC. The ladies will want to wander around Granville Island, and I will take just my K-7 and the DA 35 macro limited. Will be an interesting excercise to spend the day with just the one lens!

You will have fun!

Saw this Little today on a walk:

DA35 is one of these lenses that let me keep the Pentax flag on my house.

Great shots from everyone with the DA 35mm.

Funny, I think it was jsherman that probably sold a lot of people on a lot of different lenses; for me, it was his DA* 50-135 pics.
