Summer there = winter here. June is winter here/their summer.
Yeah, I knew that, just figured it is practically June now and if there is no word on availability yet then I highly doubt early Summer is an achievable goal.

I've ordered the non-DG version, I really should get in contact with the place I ordered it from to find out what's going on.
That's why I posted this so people who were thinking of getting one, or had ordered one knew where they stood.

I don't know if you'd be interested in used glass, but I see that Henry's has a used SIGMA AF 70-210 F4-5.6 in a Pentax mount for $100.00US
here's the link

^^ I think he's pretty set on getting something with a low aperture. Good deal though.

This is bad news about this lens! I've been holding out for months now waiting on it!

Thanks Little Laker but as HowLowCanYaGo says I want something f2.8. I would get the 50-500 if I was willing to sacrifice aperture.

Do they just? Can they explain how they're getting the HSM/SDM technology to us before Pentax is then? (Adorama still says delivery for the 16-50 and 50-135 is August)

Order cancelled, the non-DG is out of production for good by the sounds of it. Deliveries of new 70-200 DGs have a date - 20th August - which is simply too late! ie a week before I have to have the lens.

Adam,

I use the 50-500mm on a DS for motorsport, mainly historics and state series.
I have also covered the A1 GP at Eastern creek. This lens has allowed me to take some great shots.
At some stage I would will obtain a 70-200 as sometimes it gets very dark in areas of the race circuits and maybe the 2.8 would assist with.

I also use a 28-70 f2.8 in the pit areas, as these are generally not well lit.

Thanks very much Russel. Do you have an online gallery where I can look at some of your photos?

A lens like the 28-70 f2.8 is on my "to get" list, but I want a nice 10-17mm first.

Hey Mofo, if you care to pop over the ditch you can borrow mine!

I see that new one is HSM. Any guesses if my EX 1.4x and 2x TCs will work with the HSM (once I have a HSM camera of course).

Yep... I'm 16 and don't have a job though. I'm buying this lens out of savings and that is twice what I'd consider is too expensive.

funny thing is I need it because I am popping over the ditch! For the WRC at the very end of August. You probably want it for yourself though then

Nah, the WRC is usually up north, doesn't make it down to Wellington.
