Whats A Better Fast Prime? The Sigma 50mm Or Pentax FA 50MM? Or Another Option?

The Pentax has gone up to almost $400.00 now, so it isn't so much of a savings these days

Honestly for the price I'd just spend the extra $100.00 and get the Sigma. Before they raised the price there's a good chance I would have gotten the Pentax.
If I wanted weight savings, or more affordable filters I'd get the Pentax.

Well I can get the Sigma for $650AU.

I use one today on a Nikon D3000 really impressed with the lense, it was big and bulky but felt very solid and quick focus.

Seems to be very sharp @ 1.4 there is a bit of CA noticeable but it's nothing to really get upset about.

Definately ordering one

My bad. The last time I looked, they hadn't risen so high (and it wasn't all that long ago).

The price rises are pretty ridiculous, but then again looking at comparable offerings from Canon, Nikon there really isn't any saving.

Part of me was considering defecting to Canon or Nikon due to Pentax prices but there's no saving in prices anyway.
