I should stop buying miscellaneous crap and actually get the 31mm... before the silver ones run out!

The 31 limited is superb on full frame film - absolutely superb. That is, after all, what it was made for.

I'm looking for a better alternative to the Sony 35/1.4. I have two choices: Contax Zeiss 35mm 1.4 or the Pentax 31mm Limited.
If the FA 31mm f1.8 is workable, how about the FA 35mm f2?

Thank you
Russell

I've thought of that as well. I'm at the info gathering stage. If I go the 35mm route, I would rather go with the Minolta 35/2 (sacrifice a bit in bokeh for better resolution). However, I do demand both good resolution and creamy bokeh (the 31ltd fits this from my own experience-just not the corner resolution on FF). I know for sure that the 31LTD has quite a good level of micro-contrast. The downside is the manual focus feel.

I did take a look at the Summilux 35mm pictures, and people's opinions. And it seems that the Contax actually has an upper-hand, although the bokeh might not be as pleasant. Since I would use this mostly for portrait, that 1.4 might be critical depending on the situation. Price-wise, aside from the Leica, other options would still be cheaper than the Sony after the conversion.

wtf?

luminous landscape called the 31 "one of the best auto focus lenses ever made for manual focusing", read for yourself here:

also, if you think the corner resolution on FF is not good enough, you should be looking at leica and zeiss lenses

I didn't word it correctly. I know the performance of the 31LTD on an APS-C camera, but I don't know the corner performance on a FF/film body. Thus, this thread was created.

It's actually a little bit harder to adapt Leica. As for the Zeiss, the MM version is hard to get at a reasonable price. So I'm now looking at the Pentax for an alternative option.
