anyone has experience on the two captioned lens? does the difference significant?

I don't know if the ZF shares the same optical design as the CY version which is known for its corner to corner sharpness on 5D. But if it was, there is no 21mm would come close to its quality afaik.

The question I had to ask myself was whether the Zeiss was ~ $1000 better than the Pentax DA 21mm ltd. The other factor is whether or not you want AF. If mf is not required, that opens up the possibility of looking into some vintage Zeiss in the focal length.

personally I consider no Zeiss lens or any lens to be worth a 1000 bucks more than any equivalent (or close to) Pentax lens. there is a reason Asahi Optical and Carl Zeiss worked together in the past. they both make outstanding lenses. id love to have one though.

Forget the $1000, its the size difference that would settle it for me. The Zeiss is a monster at 600g, the Pentax is 260g. The Pentax is 25mm long the Zeiss is 109mm, the Pentax uses 49mm filters, the Zeiss uses 82mm.

Now if I was shooting 135 then it might be a different story, but I'm not.
