I also own both. I bought the 35 one year ago and the 90 one month ago. The Tamron is a true macro lens while the 35 is more of a wlakabout with extraordinary macro capabilities. The problem with the 35 is you have to be really close to your subject if you wish to get to 1:1. If you don't shoot insects, you won't be bothered by this problem. On the other hand, the 90 is a dedicated macro lens, perfect for bugs and other small living creatures. This being said, the build quality of the 90 is fine, but nowhere near the quality of the 35. I get a lot of pleasure using the 35 just because of that.
