Reviews are starting to pop up, with quite varying results. I suspect sample variation.

According to the last one, the sharpness is equivalent, or better, than the Pentax 12-24mm.

I read the last review also in ePhotoZine and I was very surprised to see a differing opinion on the lens that is on the positive side. Everywhere people talked about this lens tested with Nikon and Canon mount bashed on the lens comparing to Sigma 10-20mm in the older model and equivalent. I hope more Pentax users can provide their user experience for the lens. If it is as good as the Sigma 10-20mm, the older model, I am more likely to get it instead of the DA 12-24mm as I am very much on a budget for landscape lens. The reach in 10mm to 24mm is more pleasing to me than either the 10-20mm and 12-24mm. And the close-up is a plus with the Tamron. Also the weight and size is a welcome plus for the lens. I don't need the best but I need something as the runner up in IQ and I can't settle for the worst in IQ performance alone.

I know Peter Bargh personally, he is a decent honest guy and I believe his opinion is unbiased and worthy of serious consideration. He is also a long time Pentax user as well, he publishes Pentax User magazine here in the UK.

Due to his review and in order to check for possible sample variations, I shall be trying out a few Tamron 10-24's over the next few weeks against the DA12-24, which unfortunately, here in the UK, is now "Funny Money" at around £900, more than double it's sibling Tokina 12-24!

I know that many rate the Sigma 10-20 f3.5-5.6 as the better of the two, but I had two samples of the Sigma and was somewhat unhappy with the AF performance and severe field curvature at the wide end and returned them both, maybe I didn't try enough samples to find a "good 'un"

Richard, thanks for the input. I think I can trust the opinion from Peter Bargh as I find his review helpful. I also prefer less distortion and I seem to recall seeing more from the Sigma, but I am novice in landscape. Had I not fooled around with LBA buying all adaptall-2 lens that I see, I would have enough fund to pull the trigger for the 10-24. I am going to sell bunch of lens and make room for the Tamron 10-24. My mind is set on the Tamron. I hope to get it by Christmas alogn with K-x.
