Someone somewhere did a "50mm lens shoot out" with older lenses, and coincidently enough the A 50/1.2 came out on top. Of course, bokeh was his number 1 criteria....

I have an FA 50 2.8 macro, and it is darn good too.

Here you go: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/12247-smc-pent...out-final.html

This goes through quite a few 50's including Nikon lenses. Great read.
Convinced me to lust for the A1.2. At the prices you folks are getting them for - I'm envious.

That is some baaad LBA. Of course, when I figure I have only owned a Pentax for four months, and I have talked myself into buying 6 used lenses, I can see how my behavior is trending. My personal addiction are the 28mm lenses (which is normal for me--).

I was intrigued by the photo of your camera Blue, did you rig up the flash bracket yourself, and what camera is that anyway?

Regarding the shootout, I am really surprised (as am I sure others were) that the M-f1.7 fared so poorly. I must say that this was a contest of venerable standards. I would guess that the FA50mm f2.8, DFA 50mm macro, DA 55mm, and Sigma 50mm f1.4 would give the winner a run for the money. These are the lenses I would like the A-f1.2f compared to.

David,

That camera is a Pentax 6x7 and that is the optional wooden handle that Pentax offered for it.

Got mine today and I was very pleased. Like another poster - a little surprised there was not more protecting the lenses. But hey, for the price I paid I am quite happy

Working test shots now

Have trouble getting mine. It was supposed to have been sent Oct 14 but hasn't showed yet, should have a long time ago.
Anyway, if it turns up in the condition it was described I will be very happy. I sold my Voigtlander 58 not long ago and the A 50mm 1.2 is the only lens that I would consider replacing it in that range. Very good bokeh!

Just heard from Marc (of PentaxRepairs), and a cleaning and refocus of the lens comes in at $55 delivered-- very reasonable IMO. I can't wait to get it back into my hands.

I'm glad a few other people made out well. There seem to be a few more lenses available, though I have no idea what condition they are in.

I just taked to the seller personally and he was very kind and is shipping another out today. Said he thinks this one will be in even better condition than the first one I never received. So I should be receiving it by Thursday.
Expaination was that he shipped over 100 lenses that day and 7 of them got lost for a time but all but 2 have been recovered. Mine just happped to be one of them.
I seen one person made out buying 3 K1000s with the 50 1:1.2 attached and were in 9/10 condition at $100.00 each. I could have bought 3 at the price I paid.
Oh well, I will be happy because I still paid a fair amount under the current market price.
Looking forward to getting it.
The market is going to be flooded with this lens. Now everyone can own a lens that has * quality.

I was a little quick on adding the A 100 macro to my signature since I won't recieve it untill tomorrow but the 50 1:1.2 is going to look nice along side it. This one isn't just for bragging rights either, its a real user lens.
With fall here and winter coming I will have to get creative again soon so this will help.

I finally got my K1000 $100 one last Wednesday after a 2.5 week wait. It certainly wasn't "9/10" as it had a big fat dent in the filter ring which wasn't stated, but how can I complain? It has no fungus, but a lot of dust. A very good deal and I'm enjoying it at a lot. Makes my 1.4 lens seem dark!

I salute you. I spent some time looking over all those bodies with lenses and 'student cameras' and just gave up after a while. You certainly hit paydirt.
