Hanimex 135mm 2.8 Automatic: How do i fix?

i have a (at latest) 1982 Hanimex 135mm 2.8 Automatic fixed lens. it fits on my K10, but it doesn't seem to be functioning properly, on camera or off. does anyone have any links to sites with either schematics or exploded views of such lenses? its not worth enough to warrant getting it profesionally fixed, but if i can fix it myself it'd be nice.

problem: i see no "automatic" behavior whatsoever and the iris doesn't seem to adjust at all. its wide open.

Before you take the lens apart. Does this lens have an "A" position on the aperture ring?

If yes, is the aperture set to "A"? and you should be able to use all exposure modes.

If no, Go to the custom menu, and make sure the item "Allow aperture other than A" ( or something like that) is set to yes. You can leave this setting for all lenses.

for use on the camera:
  1. Set mode to M
  2. Set your aperture using the aperture ring.
  3. Push the Green button, the camera should set the shutter speed.
If this does not work than the lens may in fact be broken.

One other thought. Remove the lens from the camera. Set the aperture to some middle value, it doesn't matter what. Move the aperture actuation lever on the mount. You should be able to see the aperture blades closing and opening as you move the lever. If the blades don't move, the lens definitely is broken.

Hope this helps a bit.

yeah. i changed the menu options. my chinon 35mm manual from the same era works fine. even when the lens is off camera the blades don't move.
