Thanks, Sig! I'd have to agree with your assessment. The 1.7x matches up very nicely with the DA*300 though. Still, I'm happy to be getting at least usable IQ at 560, 680, and 800mm in addition to the superQ at 400mm. I'm hoping to get it over to Blackwater and (maybe) up to Conowingo this fall.

Wow Dave - an A* 400/2.8. You are now working in a very rarified atmosphere. It must be like finding the Holy Grail. Few of us will ever see one of these. It should be a lot of fun for you and I look forward to some exceptional shots.

Yeah, that's what worries me--the pressure to produce ;~) I'm taking it as motivation to ramp up my skills. I have paid some dues with that 1000mm f/8 though.

It was a retirement bonus splurge and I do think I'm going to enjoy it. I'm certainly pleased with how well it works with these TC's

No worries Dave. Anything just short of Eisenstaedt will be fine.
