K 55mm f1.8 Hood?

G'day all,
Just curious if anyone has had any experience at all finding a lens hood for the K series 55mm f1.8? I got one a while back and i'd really like to get one, but i understand that there wasn't one made specifically for it. It's a 52mm filter thread size, and i know i can go the cheap ebay petal-hood route, but if there are any other suggestions i'd gladly listen. I'd rather get a solid hood than a rubber one too.
I really like the look of the square tak hoods, does anyone know if any would fit? Or where i would be able to grab one, or at least a similar looking thing?

Hope you can help
Sean.

Hi:

You would be after one of these two lens hood made for Pentax K series "standard" lenses.
There is a square & round version and both show up on eBay now and then. Just make sure the listing indicates a 52mm size. (The M version has 49mm)
These hoods fit the K50/1.2, K50/1.4, K55/1.8 and the K55/2.

Phil.

I have the Pentax-K 55/1.8 and use the round metal hood from heavystar on eBay. The quality is good and the price is quite reasonable. He also sells a very nice center pinch-type 58mm lens cap that fits the end of the hood.

A 52-37mm step-down adapter ring, maybe plus a 37-30.5mm adapter ring?

I remember your previous post. The step-down ring hood is just too cool.

Haha man that's awesome, how very innovative.

But thanks guys for the information, i'll probably pick up one of the hoods in that link Stevebrot, ta.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know that with those ebay hoods, if the tele one will vignette on fullframe? It probably won't on aps-c, but yeah, just curious.

I just did a few blank wall test shots with the 49mm tele model (same dimensions as the 52mm tele model) with the Pentax-A 50/1.7 on the K10D and could not see any vignette at any apertures. As always, your mileage may vary...
