Voigtlander Nokton 58mm F1.4( 1 Image)

I received this lens Friday and although I have only used it in a limited manner, I am very well pleased. Fine build quality and the images I have so far show that it is more capable than I am.
Does anyone have the Nokton 20MM? I am also interested in this lens, or any other Voigtlanders you may have knowledge of....
Regards!
Rupert
One of my first shots with it right out of the box Friday....
K20D + Nokton 58mm F.14 @ F2.2 ISO 200 1/250
Dirty face and runny nose...it still gave me a decent shot.

Nice shot Jim! There are a lot of people using these lenses on their E-P1. I thought about it but decided to stick with Pentax lenses as I can't tell the difference anyway.

Where did you find this lens? Is it K-mount or did you have to use an adapter?

Thanks!

Russ,I bought this from Adorama, and the service was excellent, the transaction was just as promised. I think I will be well pleased! Yes it is a K mount fully operational, manual focus.

Thanks Roentarre! I think it will work out for me! The DOF is very shallow at wide aperture, so I am having to adjust, but I do love the bokeh! Here is one from today, pardon the composure, I was very close for 58mm, and the shallow DOF really shows here, but I do love that bokeh!
Regards!

Nice pictures Rupert!

There's a review I found here - Voigtländer 20/3.5 impressions - Photo.net Nikon Forum (Nikon but should make no difference). And of course you can look at the photos from this lens - Flickr: The Cosina Voigtländer Color Skopar 20mm f/3.5 Pool

If you are interested in bokeh have a read through this wonderful thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/31244-bokeh-ma...ggestions.html

Nice picture. I have a Voigtländer on my wish list, the bokeh master Voigtländer 125mm F2.5.
The 180mm F4 is another gem as far as I know, but I am quite happy with the SMC-M 200mm F4.

Kind regards

To Users of this great lens: Do you think the hood does anything positive to the image output. Certain lenses gain better saturation with the use of hoods, while others supposedly have faster AF. Anyone wants to share their experience here? Thanks!

I don't have a hood for this lens, so I can't comment much. In terms of saturation, I have no complaints about the performance without the hood. The lens does have a warmer colour rendition compared to Pentax lenses.

Question: given that this lens is MF, how does a hood give it AF capability?

Here's three of my shots from this lens:

This is a magical lens... and I like the 8mm difference in focal length over a standard 50mm.
BTW I use a slightly deeper hood than the original one from Voigtlander with no issues. Have to use a hood as I don't use a filter.

How is the packing in the original box of the CV 58/1.4? Do you guys think it is sturdy enough to protect the lens if it is shipped overseas with just the original box and no other external box? Thanks!!
