Using filters with DA Limiteds?

I have a 35 LTD Macro and a 21 LTD and I am wondering if it's possible to use filters on these without causing vignetting? I see that the hood is so tiny on the DA 21 LTD, and I'm afraid if I add a filter on top of the hood, it will cause vignetting. I only want to put a filter on so I can protect my lenses, I am very paranoid on dust being on the front element although it's easily cleaned with a rocket blower. I would rather clean the filter with a rocket blower instead.

Do you guys use filters for your Limiteds?

For a protective filter, the 21mm Ltd takes a 43mm on the inside of the hood. Works quite well. Dave

You can also take the hood off the 21 and use 49mm filters. If you want a hood then, you'll have to use a third-party one.

I got a 49mm B + W rubber hood..works great. Get a slim/thin polarizer just to be safe.

I have the DA 35/40/70 and you can use 49 mm filters on any of them without vignetting. The hoods on the 40 and 70 just screw on to the filters. With the 35, you have difficulty using a polarizer with the built in hood. Basically have to turn it and then pull out your hood, but otherwise no problems.
