good DA* 16-50mm first time?

i see alot of complaints about the da* 16-50mm just wondering if this is just a vocal minority or if it really is a problem - as i dont have a local pentax dealer so i'm looking at buying online and with something that might need to go back thats not so handy

so how many people got a good one first time?

Aye. I got one.
But be weary that those who believe they're experiencing a problem with their copy would be the first to start a thread to gather consensus about it, whereas those who get a good one just move on...

I never had any problems with mine.

It's true that some where defective, but you'll never know how many were returned due to "mass hysteria". A lot of people have returned perfectly good copies thinking they were defective AFTER reading about problem lenses. Before reading about those lenses, they were very happy with their own lens.

I got a good one. Mind you, it behaved much differently on my K10D (purple fringing and AF was a little spotty). However, when I switched to the K20D, it has worked great since then.

My first 16-50, purchased used in like-new condition, is a great copy. Very sharp even wide open.
