I would say that Pentax has to be looking into a speedier (and hopefully more reliable) in lens autofocus motor. The biggest knock on Pentax right now is slow auto focus, but that cannot be addressed if the lenses have slow auto focus motors, even if the camera has good tracking and auto focusing algorithims. Even if it increases the size of the lenses, I think Pentax has to put some good and fast ring motors in.

At the same time, I doubt these are going away. I made the decision for the 50-135 over the 70-200's out there and am glad I did. Smaller lens and more useful focal length for me.

That depends on the lens. DA 17-70 has autofocus as fast as DA 16-45. DA 55 and DA 50-135 are both pretty slow--although from what I've seen Tokina 50-135 is as slow with a screw driven motor.

One issue people complain about--for example parents who have kids with ADD--is that they can't track their subject with Pentax's continuous AF.
