Pentax DA 55-300mm vs Tamron 70-300mm at long end (brickwall)

55-300 usually does kick the 70-300's ass.

I'm reluctant to upgrade cuz my tammy is decent, and maybe I should just get a constant aperture tele zoom

I took it to the Zoo, to give it another chance - on a day with a bit more light then when I did my first tests.

I did get some good shots, but there was also a lot of motion blur. I guess my first tests may simply have suffered for a tiny bit of tripod shake.

I've probably underestimated how low the shutterspeed can go - SR just doesn't work that much magic at 300mm and things far away. My ration of keepers where a lot higher with subjects a few meters away. 1/90 at 300mm, with the subject 15-20 meters aways is simply more that SR can save.

Here the three best ones:

(PP: A bit of curve work, as the light was flat, removed fringing from the second)
