A little flare, anyone?

Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 EX DG, shot at f/4.5. I like this lens a lot (and have said so around this forum), but flare resistance is NOT its strong suit.

That having been said, this is ridonculous.

This is a crop (to remove some unwanted objects around the frame), but the whole thing looks like this. The sun was NOT in the original frame, and yes, I was using a hood. I guess I need a longer one! My old SMC Takumar 28mm f/3.5 would have SPANKED this lens, even without a hood.

I have the old non SMC takumar 28mm/3.5 and it's the most flarey (is that even a word) lens i have ever owned. That picture above is great. It's like a special effect.

Heh, thanks for the compliment. But I'll back up my assertion. Here's the SMCT 28mm f/3.5 in action. The sun is right at the edge of the frame, I didn't use a hood, and this is not a crop:

You're right though, it is like a special effect. Which would be OK if that's what I was going for!

Hey Quicksand,

I got to agree with Mike, the picture looks pretty cool with that flare!!!

Voe, that picture is very nice. Where was it taken if you don't mind my asking?

I got to say, with the 2 pics posted here with flare, maybe we should have special flare lenses!!!

Regards,
MPOC
