I have the K 135 3.5 and have owned the M 135 3.5 (and currently alo have the S-M-C Tak 135 f/3.5 and 2.5's )

They basically all are good primes. I have a hard time seeing the difference in IQ between the M & the K, but the K seems to be easier to focus precisely (as does the Tak.)

I purchased four m-lenses during the last months and I am very happy with all of them.
Like you I was not sure whether to buy K or M, but I am glad I chose M. I have had several chances to compare M and K lenses and in my opinion the difference in IQ is insignificant. Of this reason I chose M as they are smaller and lighter.

However, there's no M 135mm F2.5, so if you want the speed then get the K 135mm F2.5. If you're happy with F3.5 I would chose the M-version.

Kind regards

Nice images Jay,

Back to the K ~ M debate. No argument both the M and K series are very good lenses. After years of using both series I find myself preferring the colour palette of the K series. A personal preference I admit but thats the reason I reach for the K series ahead of the M. I think they produce a more pleasing image to my eye. Its all very subjective of course and opinions will vary.

That's my feeling as well. Whatever difference there might be in IQ is mostly lost on me. Not that I've had the opportunity to performs tests myself, but nothing I've seen from other people's sample makes me think I'd really notice a difference in IQ if I switched from my M. But every day, I appreciate the smaller size and lesser weight of the M. Others are perhaps less sensitive to size and weight, and more sensitive to differences in IQ.

It may also come down to which lens you can find. I see plenty of M versions but fewer Ks.

I think my shortlist has the K f2.5 at the top, however as they seem to be rare and seriously expensive it's likely to to be either the K or the M in f3.5 depending on what appears in the best condition for the lowest price. Those Ks that I have seen were priced far higher than the M versions.

What do you consider expensive for a K F2.5?

Kind regards

So this is on film, and here you can see the results in my first html attempts.
