I would love to meet Lester and be his friend. Unfortunately, we move in different social and economic circles

Lester is just a tad easier to afford than Viv, usually.

I was his friend, but a Mr. A* Macro pushed him away. It was sad to see him go, but his replacement is much cooler.

No - it's a lens called Vivitar 100mm Macro F2.8
It is identical to the other 2 in size and weight, must have been
a marketing thing. I sold the lens a year ago.

Ah, yes - I used to own a copy of that too, although mine wasn't as pristine.

I don't know if it's possible to be cooler than Lester A Dine!

Well, I don't know Lester, but I do know a guy named Tokina AT-X 90mm f/2.5 (w/ 1:1 extender).

Doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it? :ugh:

I just sold Lester and his cousin Viv in the marketplace last month, along with the Dine ring flash. I used the proceeds to fund a Voigtländer 125 Macro. At this point I'm full of doubt, wondering if I realized an improvement. I loved that Dine, with its toothy pictograms.

I had an extensive manual Macro lens collection once. The Vivitar S1 and Lester A. Dine stayed, when all others left .....

I think I had almost every K, KA and M42 mount available Macro lens at one time with the exception of the new Sigma 70mm, 180mm, the Voigtlander and the 35mm Pentax Macro. The only lens that I liked as much as the Kiron built 105mm Macro is the Pentax FA 100mm 2.8 (in terms of sharpness and bokeh).

That macro lens collection is just simply WRONG!

No kidding - Hogs, that's the most impressive macro collection I've ever seen gathered in one shot.

It's nice to know that you released them back into the wild, though
