Anyone else use this lens? I just picked a EX+ copy for about $40 shipped with another lens, I found a few photos on flickr from this lens but was wondering if anyone else is currently shooting with this lens and if so your impressions of it's build quality and how it compares to a Pentax SMC 50/1.4.

I have the 1.7 but to be honest, I haven't had a chance to take it out yet. They are supposed to be quite good...

Colin, just like smc said I would expect this lens to be quite good. I also have the silver ring 1.7/50 DX and it is really contrasty.

I remembered a post from trusty user xjjohnno showing some pics accomplished with the 1.4/50 DX.

I'd say you will get a classy lens for sure.

I'd love to have one in the silver trim - I have its 35 and 135mm siblings - the 35 especially is a favorite of mine. There's a guy with an Electro-X and silver DX 50/1.4 who shows up for the July 4th parade in front of our house every year. Even though I don't need another 50, this one I would buy. (I have 2 DS-M 50/1.7's and they are very nice indeed)

I have one, pics in the 50s thread and the Off Brand thread. It is a very likeable lens. The only comparison I'd be able to do is with the Super Takumar 50 f1.4.
