Of course you will hear the few with problems load and clear, and of course you will not hear all the thousands of happy users to compensate these stories.

I believe the money spend on my SDM lenses was worth every penny!....

I agree that the problems are heard loud and clear while those satisfied with the lens will likely just shut up and use them.

Chances are, you'll be OK. The least that Pentax can do tho is include a 5 year warranty with DA* lenses to increase customer confidence.

its a real shame that such a fantastic lens like 50-135mm (speaking from results i seen from it) would have such issues.
Why not they make "SDM-less" lens of 50-135mm quality? This zoom range really throws away the need for several primes.
If they do make it, I'd be very happy to buy that.

Why is Pentax sticking with these slow motors anyway? Why don't they go the faster type like the others? Surley they can figure out how to do it.

I'm seering clear of SDM until this blows over AND they are faster than screw drive.
