Anyone seen an FA35 for sale (used or new)?

I'm poking around trying to decide between an FA43 (my preference, but might be too expensive unless I can find a good used one), FA35 (can't find one at all) or DA40 (not as fast as I'd like).

Has anyone seen an FA35 for sale? I thought I saw one on the Pentax web store a while back, but they seem to be gone now.

If you can live with Samsung on your lens, US $413-429. Minus 8% for Bing Cash Back - $386 not bad considering the price increases.

Is it essentially the same lens? I could care less what's written on it.

But where did you find the 8% Bing cash back? I did a Bing cash back search and the only thing that came up was B&H, and the total price was $587.

eBay is always hovering around 8% cashback. Go to Bing.com and search for "silver coins" or something like that.

As far as I know the Samsung lenses are the same. Bing ebay gets blocked on firefox if you are using the adblock addin. Try this link in IE.

Thanks Russell. I could live with $386 for a 35/2 if it's the same as the Pentax version, which I owned previously and really liked. Does anyone know for sure if these are the same lenses?

If it bothers you about the Samsung, I'd hold out and keep your eyes on the Marketplace here. Seems like every few weeks an FA35/2 is listed.

I am glad I got mine and when I did, before the price rise this past year. It's my "usual" and almost always on my body.

I wouldn't say the Samsung label bothers me; I just want to know if it's the same lens mechanically and optically. If it is, I don't care what the label says!

Same lens, same optics, same coating, built in Pentax factory, but labeled Samsung (and Schneider...something, which is just a name Samsung baught the right to use).

i have a samsung and it's exactly the same, even the lens hood and the lens case

I don't think people prefer FA43 over DA40 for a mere half-stop advantage, rather for more appealing (yet subjective) rendition and depth of color, bokeh, etc., and for better manual focus ring. I doubt that it's as good as the DA40 in locking focus in extreme low light, however.

FA35 seems like another story, in league of its own, in terms of picture quality. Hard to come by, unfortunately. Perhaps look for the Samsung variant -- should be the same as Pentax OEM -- in places like your local Best Buy.
