flektogon 20mm?

Hello there, has anyone of you had the opportunity to test a Carl Zeiss Flektogon 20mm f4 or f2.8 (or maybe even the 25 f4)? They seem to run at fairly acceptable prices on ebay, and look like a positively interesting way to fill up my wide angle gap. Also: Zebra style!

Yeah! I see them on ebay, and remember checking for images taken with it at the usual places (flickr, pbase etc) and wasn't that impressed with it, especially compared to the cropped sensor lens DA21 that I have.

I dont have a flektogon myself but I think it's highly recommended by people over at Manual Focus Lenses :: Index. If I remember right it has been recommended for architecture shots as it has very low barrel distortion for such a wide angle.

Based on the discussions I have seen on mflenses.com and other research on the 20mm fleks, I'd personally go with the slower one. In part, because I like the Zebra style and also the significant price differences as well as it is reported to have low barrel distortion as ovim pointed out. However, since I currently have a DA 21mm and Tamron adaptamatic 21mm with m42 mount, it has never moved up my list high enough to be my monthly treatment for lba.

ah, gentlemen, so far my information is the same as you, mainly mflenses being enthusiast. This 20mm 4 seems highly recommended and in the wide angle quest, it ranks amongst the cheaper ones. BUT, fully unanticipated, i've ran into a nicely priced pentax smc 17mm fisheye, which is coming to me next week, sounds like a very nice ultrawide, with the smc coating and pre-A-series build quality i've come to like (acutally so much that i -completely unnecessary- am thinking about getting myself an m 50 1.7, even though i have the A version, this will not get out of hand, of course). More when it's here

Flektogon 20mm f/2.8

This is the lens, but I haven't as yet made any comparative tests with it.

would you say it still qualifies as 'rather compact'?

I got this lens today and must say big mistake.

Flektogon 2.8/20 MC Carl Zeiss Jena DDR M42

It seams I cannot focus with it. When turning the focus ring there doesn't change anything between the sharpness only a little to the end. The pictures look blurry and not sharp at all.

Hope I can talk to the dealer.

Your copy sounds like it needs serviced. It is probably a 30+ year old lens.

That wasn't directed at you, but potential posters that may start talking about previous topics in the thread and not pay attention to the date.

Well I've got the Flektagon 20mm f2.8 and consider it quite the decent lens. But then I don't have a DA 21 to compare it to.

[langtitle=fr]Flektogon carl zeiss 20mm[/langtitle]

photographiquement MiKa
