A lot of discussion is going on the SDM issue.

I just thought you might be interested in the petition thread started by user LeDave.

I guess some have missed the thread because it did not mention SDM in the title.

While this is a good idea - and certainly better than what we have now, I don't believe it is a definitive solution. Please also consider petitioning Pentax to produce better quality SDM and back it up with extended warranties.

I agree with Ash, it's not a definitive solution, it's only a work-around to something that should be dealt with directly. I didn't spend $1300 for one of the desirable features I wanted, that being silent AF, only to have to use screw drive if it ended up failing. It's either all or nothing and Pentax should get on the ball and address this apparent issue. Luckily my DA*300 hasn't given me any problems over these last 2 years, but I am weary about purchasing another DA* lens.
